This month we’re highlighting Lisa White, a Controller here at PBO. Lisa has been with us for just over a year. Initially, Lisa was drawn to PBO because it provided an opportunity to work with different businesses in San Diego. Over the past year, she has worked with numerous companies in a myriad of different industries such as manufacturing, IT service providers, Department of Defense contractors, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations. Moreover, Lisa has come to appreciate the PBO leadership team who work hard to cultivate a group of driven and determined employees. Being able to work with like-minded individuals as well as the diverse client-base keeps Lisa motivated and excited.
One of Lisa’s greatest accomplishments during her time at PBO occurred when a client needed assistance with financial reporting and audit preparation in order to apply for Government Grants. In less than three months, Lisa and the PBO team had organized two separate audits, prepared two years of tax returns, updated the client’s accounting systems, and implemented new processes and procedures. Shortly thereafter, she saw her hard work come to fruition when the organization was awarded a substantial grant, despite the short time frame they had to work with. Above all, knowing that the effort she and the team put forth led the organization to a much better position is what she is most proud of.
Lisa may be involved in many facets of PBO’s business, but a huge part of her life revolves around her family. She’s married to her high school sweetheart and they have three awesome children. Everyone in her family offers her a fresh perspective on life. The White family enjoys going outdoors, hiking, fishing, and camping. As a family, they root for the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team. Their passion for this team is so off the charts, that their daughter has learned to sing the National Anthem from all the games they’ve watched together. Lisa recommends that the United Center in Chicago is a great venue to watch professional hockey and hear the anthem sung (hopefully by her daughter one day).
Despite Lisa’s busy schedule, she works tirelessly towards advancing her goals and aspirations. She has focused her career path on helping improve accounting and financial systems of her current and future clients. Her goal is to continue increasing her knowledge and strengths while expanding her roles and responsibilities at PBO, which in turn will help her clients achieve their accounting and financial objectives.
